The image above says it all. We’ve released a brand new 7″ from a relatively unknown Swedish band, Branko! This instrumental trio plays fuzzed out afro-beat garage space odyssey sickness. Branko bring us a brand new slab of wax with 8 tracks of rock a la Link Wray on a 33RPM 7″. The 7″ includes a digital download card for an additional 9 tracks that are not on the 7″ and are equally impressive (17 tracks in total). Branko play blown out guitars, keyboards, and drums with sprinklings of the Ventures, Troggs, and Link Wray with a punk instrumental spin. Strange sci-fi samples litter the tracks of fuzzy greatness. Submissions is the recording project of two LA mainstays, Bobb Bruno (Goliath Bird Eater, Best Coast) and Paul Kneejie (The Pope, Bipolar Bear, Hiking). Drawing heavily on early industrial and Godflesh influence, Submissions bring back the rumble and doom that has been gone for so long. This is an extremely limited cd that will only be available through Kill Shaman Records store. Limited to 100 copies, professionally printed and replicated… gotta get this one. So it’s been a while (again) since we’ve posted, but we have some pretty cool updates for you. First off, we wanted to announce that one of our favorite labels, Beko Digital Singles, has put out a pretty sweet compilation called “This is What LA Doesn’t Sound Like” that includes a bunch of Kill Shaman bands, friends, and side projects. “This is What LA Doesn’t Sound Like” includes tracks from Night Control, Healthcare (members of Turrks and Night Control), Ger^^an, German Army, and Hiking (ex-Bad Dudes, Turrks, and Silver Daggers guys). The Rebel / Bomber Jackets “Split” 7″

A brand new split release between Ben Wallers (Country Teasers) The Rebel and James Pheromoans’ (Pheromoans) Bomber Jackets. Limited to 300 copies and released as a split release between Kill Shaman and Savoury Days (UK), we have less than 100 copies here in the US after the bands got their share, we split the rest with Savoury Days, then sent a bunch out for radio and stuff. Each band gives out 2 tracks of epic post-whatever weirdness. If you’re a fan of the output from any of the people involved in this thing, this is a must have.

The Feeling of Love “Dissolve Me” LP

The Feeling of Love’s 3rd album, their second for Kill Shaman, “Dissolve Me” picks up right where “OK Judge Revival” left off. it’s got a great Velvets sheen, but with some trace-like psychedelia and caveman head-bangers. If you liked “OK Judge Revival”, this will blow your socks off. Eleven tracks of pure, unadulterated garage-psych-kraut beauty. Catchy, repetitive, and sure to be on heavy rotation. • Estrogen Highs “Friends and Relatives” LP – This is a great new LP from EH, so different than their last few. Great, lo-fi garage rock stuff here. Don’t miss it.
• Holy Cobras “Forever” LP – New LP from Toronto weirdos Holy Cobras. Cool kraut/space/punk shit. Imported from Telephone Explosion in Canada.
• Mueran Humanos “Mueran Humanos” LP – This is some of the coolest stuff I’ve heard in a while. Great gothic synth pop stuff from these crazy Spanish folk. Brilliant and one of the freshest things I’ve heard in ages. On Blind Prophet Records.
• YOU. “Demonstration” LP – Another great LP of minimal synth experimentation. Again, highly recommended from the folks at Blind Prophet Records.

Up Next!

Up next, we’ve gor a great LP from France’s The Dreams coming out, titled “Morbido”. The album is full of crazy minimal synth reggae tracks that make you want to dance awkwardly and smoke a big doober. After that comes a great record from Sweden’s BRANKO! • Red Mass “Happy Endings” 7″ –  Another Red Mass 7″, this time from Italy’s Goodbye Boozy records. Limited to 300 copies with 3 cover variations. We have a few of each cover option available. Hand #’d and all that jazz.
• Vomit Squad “Amon Ra Bless America” LP – The Squad features those stalwarts of Montreal RnR, Choyce, D. Marks, A. A. Khan, and their childhood buddy, Rich Ritalin. The EP is a mongo-masterpiece of KBD dummy punk. Cool.

So it’s been a while since we last posted, and I apologize for that. We’ve been working on quite a few new things which should be super cool and interesting for y’all. 2011 in Progress

So now that we’re done with all of the 2010 stuff, I’d like to share our plans for 2011. First off, we’re working on adding digital downloads to our website. Since we often offer vinyl-only records, we’re thinking of adding free digital downloads when you buy directly from us. Additionally, we’ll allow folks to buy digital downloads if they’re so inclined to do so. I’m not sure people will care, but hey, it’s worth a try. Now, onto our plans for this year:

• KSR49: The Rebel / Bomber Jackets Split 7″ – The Rebel is Ben Wallers (Country Teasers) and crew making weird sub-humanoid bar crawlers. Bomber Jackets is a Pheromoans side project that has equal appeal.  Split release with Savoury days. We’ll only have 100 copies or so, so get ‘em, while the gettin’s good. Out in March.
• KSR50 – The Feeling of Love “TBD” – A year after “OK Judge Revival”, TFOL are ready for another Velvet’s-like banger. Released in Europe on Born Bad and by Kill Shaman in the US and Canada. Should be out in April.
• KSR51: The Dreams “TBD” – We’ve been talking about this one for a while, but it got a bit delayed so the band could record some new material. Tehy were going to use some tracks from their split with Scorpion Violente but decided not to. Heavy dub-like skronk punk stuff. Very cool.
• KSR52: Branko! “Branko!” LP – We’ve delayed the hell out of this one too, but we need to get it out there. It’s really damned good. If you haven’t heard Branko!, check them out because their punked up Ventures-style garage madness is unparalleled.

Look for forward to some other great things to come too, many of which are still in the works. All we can say is that we’ll be releasing something by Yves Son Ace (Love Tan, Factums members), and if all goes well, we’ll release something by the band that inspired us to play music and start a label. Maybe. We’ll see. More distro updates and bullshit rants soon!

MOVIE STAR JUNKIES “IN A NIGHT LIKE THIS” 10″ EP

It’s not often that one comes across a band as original and experienced as Movie Star Junkies. Kill Shaman have been fans of the band since we first heard early releases on AVANT! and their split with fellow KS band, The Feeling of Love. Mixing some sort of Italian spaghetti western aesthetic with goth, post-punk, and the volume and stage presence of the best garage bands, Movie Star Junkies have shared a sweet little 4-song 10″ EP with us. The album is 100% black vinyl, limited to 500 copies and comes with beautiful packaging, including upgraded 10″ stock and a beautiful printed inner-sleeve complete with lyrics and creepy artwork (hence the price tag).
