We like the number 2… Paris’ Crash Normal are somewhere between garage-punk and electro trash. They are a duo. These guys drop the sound of rusty nails and hit the audience like rain. Echos and reverbs fight, the drum machine gets killed by the fuzz pedal. Low frequencies slither around you like a snake. No bass player. Only two guitars to fill the space left in the room. Real drums win the battle over drum machines in the end. They’ve shared the bill with Sic alps, The Intelligence, Alan Vega, Ty Segall, The Mayyors, The Spits, Kid congo, Davila 666, BBQ, Wounded Lion, Human Eyes, the Cave, and Crystal Stilts. Euro customers can pick this up from Born Bad Records. Check out a sample track here.
Yves/Son/Ace is the solo project of Matthew Ford (Factums, Love Tan, Evening Meetings). He makes apocalyptic pop music with fuzzy, gnarled, overblown, and mangled instruments. Noises range from guitars and pianos to hammers and mallets. Industrial garage pop… or something. 6-song 7″ EP with high-quality jackets, black sleeves, and some tits. Highly recommend.
KSR51: THE DREAMS “MORBIDO” LP / MP3

We’re proud to announce the repress of the debut LP from France’s The Dreams. Members of Le Grande Tripple Alliance, The Dreams are two-piece jungle/tropicalia/reggae/glue wave band from France that play a spaced out, psychedelic mix of dub, reggae, post-punk, and French garage rock. It’s impossible to pin down or classify, but you’ll dance like your inner-stoner was set free into a tropical tiki party where the punks are all hanging out with the masters of reggae and dub, and everyone’s having a good time. Their first LP, “Morbido”, contains an amazing mix of feeling and aesthetics that will instantly appeal to fans of early Rough Trade records, Trojan box sets, or modern Glue Wave French punks. Mastered by Seb Normal of the Normals/The Feeling of Love. Limited to 300 copies on black vinyl. Click the image above to purchase.

Sorry it’s been so long, we’ve been really busy. Anyhow, we’ve got a couple of quick things to announce, most importantly a tour from our favorite Frenchmen and a ton of stuff sent off to the pressing plant. So here we go…

The Feeling of Love on Tour of the US!

Our favorite Frenchies are here in the US touring down the West Coast. They started a few days ago, but here’s the remainder of their awesome trip:

Feb 29th in Sacramento @ Bows & Arrows*
March 1st in San Francisco @ TBA*
March 2d in SF @ Great American Music All
March 3d in L.A. @ Troubadour
March 4th in San Diego @ Casbah
March 5th in L.A. @ Pehrspace*
March 6th in L.A. @Burger records instore*
March 7th in Isla Vista @ Biko Garage*
March 8th OFF
March 09th in Davis @ Davis Bike Collective*
March 10th in Oakland @ 1234GO!*

* denotes a show with Delacave, Seb Normal’s other band. The show at Pehrspace in LA is with Merx, a new band with members of The Pope, Bipolar Bear, ex-Spits, etc. It’s a gothic enthusiasts wet dream.

If you go see The Feeling of Love, this is pretty much what you’re in for:

The FEELING OF LOVE live aux Romains 03-02-2012 part 2/2 from Nic Normal on Vimeo.

New Stuff at the Presses!

So the last time we released a record was in October or something, and it was that awesome Branko 7″ with all those tracks and digital downloads and all of that awesome jazz. Well, it’s been a while so we figured we’d do 3 things at once. Here’s what we’ve got coming up along with a little soundcloud action so you folks can give it a preview:

Yves Son Ace “Unsung” 7″

This is a new 7″ from our pal Matthew Ford’s Yves Son Ace. Matthew is a Seattle maystay and has been in Love Tan, Factums, and the new Evening Meetings (with some A-Frames and Lights folks…). This is a sweet little 5-song 7″ that will rock your socks off with weird, noisy, catchy-ass punk that you would expect from such a man. Limited to 500 copies on black vinyl and out soon. Here’s a quick sample of “This Song Won’t Make me Rich”:

Crash Normal “Your Body Got a Land” LP

I’m not sure why we love the French so much. Maybe because we love their country, their food, their culture, and their women. But really, we just like their jams. Crash Normal have always been on our radar and have always been the nicest of people, so we decided to press their latest LP, “You Body Got a Land”. This one even has a sweet A-Frames cover of “Electric Eye”. It’s everything you’d expect from Crash Normal and more; great post-punk, angular riffage. Raging synths that cut like razorblades. Pop hooks make you bang your head. It’s all good. 300 copies on black vinyl, being pressed in the EU by Born Bad. Check out “Moon Food”:

The Dreams “Morbido” LP

And last but not least, we have a repress of the sold out Dreams “Morbido” LP. We’ll be repressing 300 copies on black vinyl, but half will go to Europe and half will remain in the US. If you missed out on this the first time, you better pick this up again since it will be the last pressing we do for this record before it gets vaulted forever and ever… Here’s the Dream’s “Satan” from Morbido:

The image above says it all. We’ve released a brand new 7″ from a relatively unknown Swedish band, Branko! This instrumental trio plays fuzzed out afro-beat garage space odyssey sickness. Branko bring us a brand new slab of wax with 8 tracks of rock a la Link Wray on a 33RPM 7″. The 7″ includes a digital download card for an additional 9 tracks that are not on the 7″ and are equally impressive (17 tracks in total). Branko play blown out guitars, keyboards, and drums with sprinklings of the Ventures, Troggs, and Link Wray with a punk instrumental spin. Strange sci-fi samples litter the tracks of fuzzy greatness. We haven’t heard anything like this… ever. Hear some tracks from the record on our Soundcloud below.

BRANKO! by bryan-levine

Submissions is the recording project of two LA mainstays, Bobb Bruno (Goliath Bird Eater, Best Coast) and Paul Kneejie (The Pope, Bipolar Bear, Hiking). Drawing heavily on early industrial and Godflesh influence, Submissions bring back the rumble and doom that has been gone for so long. This is an extremely limited cd that will only be available through Kill Shaman Records store. Limited to 100 copies, professionally printed and replicated… gotta get this one. Hear some tracks for the record below:

New Distro

We’ve added a lot of new distro since our last update. Here’s a quick recap:

LP’s:

Ale Mania “A, Who Sings That Beat?” LP – Ale Mania’s debut LP. Pretty stellar guitars/keyboards/junk piles. Recommended.

Demon’s Claws “Lost in Desert Part Deux” LP – Great LP from these weirdo garage rockers. Already sold out elsewhere, I believe.

Muscle Drum “Fog Hag” LP – SOOOOO recommended. This is a side project of Bronze members. Insanely good. One of our favorites in a long time.

The Pink Noise “Gilded Flowers” LP – Another great LP from our friend to the North. Destructive, dirty, and sinful synth-punk.

V/A “Under the Covers, Volume 2″ LP – Brilliant LP with tons of bands covering Nerves (and other) tracks. Some heavy hitters on this one…

We’re proud to announce the release of the debut LP from France’s The Dreams. Limited to 500 copies on black vinyl.

Beko

So it’s been a while (again) since we’ve posted, but we have some pretty cool updates for you. First off, we wanted to announce that one of our favorite labels, Beko Digital Singles, has put out a pretty sweet compilation called “This is What LA Doesn’t Sound Like” that includes a bunch of Kill Shaman bands, friends, and side projects. “This is What LA Doesn’t Sound Like” includes tracks from Night Control, Healthcare (members of Turrks and Night Control), Ger^^an, German Army, and Hiking (ex-Bad Dudes, Turrks, and Silver Daggers guys). Check out the compilation and download it for FREE here. Their first LP, “Morbido”, contains an amazing mix of feeling and aesthetics that will instantly appeal to fans of early Rough Trade records, Trojan box sets, or modern Glue Wave French punks.

Kill Shaman is proud to announce two awesome new releases:

The Rebel / Bomber Jackets “Split” 7″

A brand new split release between Ben Wallers (Country Teasers) The Rebel and James Pheromoans’ (Pheromoans) Bomber Jackets. Limited to 300 copies and released as a split release between Kill Shaman and Savoury Days (UK), we have less than 100 copies here in the US after the bands got their share, we split the rest with Savoury Days, then sent a bunch out for radio and stuff. Each band gives out 2 tracks of epic post-whatever weirdness. If you’re a fan of the output from any of the people involved in this thing, this is a must have.

Buy it HERE.

The Feeling of Love “Dissolve Me” LP

The Feeling of Love’s 3rd album, their second for Kill Shaman, “Dissolve Me” picks up right where “OK Judge Revival” left off. it’s got a great Velvets sheen, but with some trace-like psychedelia and caveman head-bangers. If you liked “OK Judge Revival”, this will blow your socks off. Eleven tracks of pure, unadulterated garage-psych-kraut beauty. Catchy, repetitive, and sure to be on heavy rotation. Please note that this LP will not ship until next week!

Buy it HERE.

Distro Updates

And from last time, we’ve added some new records in the distro store:

Hiking “Trenches / Bikini Atol” 7″ – A new 7″ from members of Bad Dudes, Turrks (fka Bipolar Bear), and Silver Daggers. Pretty good 90′s style post-punk that will make you wish you were 17 again. Imported from X-Mist in Germany.

Jack of Heart “The Wedding” 7″ – Imported from New Zealand with a bunch of other stuff on Perpetrator Records. Really good, lo-fi garage stuff here.

James Arthur “Manhunt” 7″ – Ex-Necessary Evils front-man makes a pretty garage banging single of solo stuff. Again, imported from New Zealand on Perpetrator Records

Ladies Night “Hell on the Phone” 7″ – Awesome, trash skronk punk garage from Vancouver. Imported from New Zealand on Perpetrator Records

Imported from New Zealand on Perpetrator Records.

Movie Star Junkies “Flamingos” 7″ – A great companion to the “In a Night Like This” 10″ we did. Italy’s leaders of vaudeville post-punk Moriconne shit. Imported from New Zealand on Perpetrator Records.

Original Three “I Rock, I Ran” 7″ – A little side project from some members of Black Lips. Pretty cool Memphis madness. Imported from New Zealand on Perpetrator Records.

Skip Jensen “Out on the Horizon” 7″ – Mr. Skip Jenson, formerly of Demon’s Claws continues to belt out great, experimental solo stuff. This one’s a doozy. Also on Perpetrator.

Estrogen Highs “Friends and Relatives” LP – This is a great new LP from EH, so different than their last few. Great, lo-fi garage rock stuff here. Don’t miss it.

Holy Cobras “Forever” LP – New LP from Toronto weirdos Holy Cobras. Cool kraut/space/punk shit. Imported from Telephone Explosion in Canada.

Mueran Humanos “Mueran Humanos” LP – This is some of the coolest stuff I’ve heard in a while. Great gothic synth pop stuff from these crazy Spanish folk. Brilliant and one of the freshest things I’ve heard in ages. On Blind Prophet Records.

YOU. “Demonstration” LP – Another great LP of minimal synth experimentation. Again, highly recommended from the folks at Blind Prophet Records.

Up Next!

Up next, we’ve gor a great LP from France’s The Dreams coming out, titled “Morbido”. The album is full of crazy minimal synth reggae tracks that make you want to dance awkwardly and smoke a big doober. After that comes a great record from Sweden’s BRANKO! They sound like the Ventures gone punk. Amazing. Come back soon, ya hear!

Bunch of new distro updates! We’ll keep this short, so here they are:

Burning Itch “Satisfaction” 7″ - Burning Itch is a Tennessee KBD -style punk band. This record consists of two songs that will fuck you up. They are loud, fast and punk as fuck. Enjoy. Imported from Italy from Goodbye Boozy.

Holy Cobras “S/T” 7” – First 7″ from these Canadian noise rockers. Pretty cool spaced out jams for a simple two-piece. Available from Telephone Explosion.

Puberty “Invitations/Party” 7″ – Here’s a banging new 7″ from Lars Finberg’s (A-Frames, Intelligence) new band, Puberty. Sounds a lot like where the Intelligence left off, except with boy/girl vocals. Lots of stuff going on too. Pretty damned good.

Red Mass “Happy Endings” 7″ – Another Red Mass 7″, this time from Italy’s Goodbye Boozy records. Limited to 300 copies with 3 cover variations. We have a few of each cover option available. Hand #’d and all that jazz.

Vomit Squad “Amon Ra Bless America” LP – The Squad features those stalwarts of Montreal RnR, Choyce, D. Marks, A. A. Khan, and their childhood buddy, Rich Ritalin. The EP is a mongo-masterpiece of KBD dummy punk. Cool.

Update on The Feeling of Love’s new LP “Dissolve Me”; it’s at the pressing plant and should be done during the last week of April. Check out their first video for the album “NUMBOY” below:

So it’s been a while since we last posted, and I apologize for that. We’ve been working on quite a few new things which should be super cool and interesting for y’all. I want to thank all of you people that actually read this thing and shop in our store for making 2010 our best year ever. Thanks for continuing to support us and buy music that we put out. We love doing this and we love you for loving us.

2010 in Review:

Uphill Gardeners “5-6″ LP

The Feeling of Love “OK Judge Revival” LP

Night Control “Life Control” CD

Agent Side Grinder “Debut” CD

The Moles “Untune the Sky” 2XLP

The Dictaphone “S/T” LP

Sharp Ends “S/T” LP

Movie Star Junkies “In a Night Like This” 10″

You can see plenty of reviews all over the internet for most of these. Records by The Feeling of Love, The Moles, Night Control, and Agent Side Grinder made tons of top-10 lists for the year from everyone from Aquarius Records, Revovler/Midheaven, Dusted, and more. Check them out, they’re some of our favorites.

2011 in Progress

So now that we’re done with all of the 2010 stuff, I’d like to share our plans for 2011. First off, we’re working on adding digital downloads to our website. Since we often offer vinyl-only records, we’re thinking of adding free digital downloads when you buy directly from us. Additionally, we’ll allow folks to buy digital downloads if they’re so inclined to do so. I’m not sure people will care, but hey, it’s worth a try. Now, onto our plans for this year:

KSR49: The Rebel / Bomber Jackets Split 7″ – The Rebel is Ben Wallers (Country Teasers) and crew making weird sub-humanoid bar crawlers. Bomber Jackets is a Pheromoans side project that has equal appeal. Split release with Savoury days. We’ll only have 100 copies or so, so get ‘em, while the gettin’s good. Out in March.

KSR50 – The Feeling of Love “TBD” – A year after “OK Judge Revival”, TFOL are ready for another Velvet’s-like banger. Released in Europe on Born Bad and by Kill Shaman in the US and Canada. Should be out in April.

KSR51: The Dreams “TBD” – We’ve been talking about this one for a while, but it got a bit delayed so the band could record some new material. Tehy were going to use some tracks from their split with Scorpion Violente but decided not to. Heavy dub-like skronk punk stuff. Very cool.

KSR52: Branko! “Branko!” LP – We’ve delayed the hell out of this one too, but we need to get it out there. It’s really damned good. If you haven’t heard Branko!, check them out because their punked up Ventures-style garage madness is unparalleled.

Look for forward to some other great things to come too, many of which are still in the works. All we can say is that we’ll be releasing something by Yves Son Ace (Love Tan, Factums members), and if all goes well, we’ll release something by the band that inspired us to play music and start a label. Maybe. We’ll see. More distro updates and bullshit rants soon!

Paris, France’s Cheveu’s newest release “1000″ shows a much more polished and slicker sound than their previous releases, portraying the bands growth and adventurous, other-worldly style. That’s not to say it doesn’t sound like a Cheveu album, which is usually pretty damned difficult to pinpoint anyhow. Expect a whole new foray of sounds that include full string arrangements, crazy RUN DMC-style beats, and the usual flurry of noisy electronics and Rolling Stones-type blues riffs. Limited to only 1000 copies on black vinyl in the US and Canada, licensed from Born Bad in Europe. Amazing cover art made out of fruit stickers and other fun stuff. Love it.

Tracks:
1. Quattro Stagioni
2. Charlie Sheen
3. No Birds
4. Impossible is not French
5. Sensual Drug Abuse
6. Show!
7. Ice Ice Baby
8. Push Push in the Bush Bush
9. Like a Deer in the Headlights
10. Payback Game
11. La Fin Au Debut
12. My First Song
13. Bonne Nuit Cheri

If you’re in Europe, get this from Born Bad Records.

NEW DISTRO

7″s:

Killerlady “Minneapolis” 7″ – Amazing solo debut from this EA-80 member. Really great garage/punk stuff.

Killerlady / Japnische Kampfhorspiele “Split” 7″ – Great split between two solo projects from EA-80 members. Good.

Staatseinde “Eindplaneet” 7″ – Great electro pop from Enfant Terrible. If you got the Kamp Holland comp, you know this.

Nuerobit “Till it all Fades Away” 7″ – Another Kamp Holland band, great Terry Riley-esque stuff. Limited.

LP’s:

Dead Luke “American Haircut” LP – Perfect psych-pop weirdness. One of our 2010 favorites.

Kim Ki O “Dans” LP – Great post-punk electro stuff from this Turkish band. On Enfant Terrible. Recommended.

Myelin Sheaths “Get On Your Nerves” LP – Weird canadian pop band, pals with Sharp Ends. Great stuff.

Paris, France’s Cheveu’s newest release “1000″ shows a much more polished and slicker sound than their previous releases, portraying the bands growth and adventurous, other-worldly style.
